Maintenance Engineer

📍 Location: Wakefield
💷 Salary: £42,000 per year
🕒 Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:00pm | Friday 7:00am – 1:00pm
📄 Contract: Permanent

The Role

We are currently seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join an established manufacturing business in the Wakefield area on a permanent basis.

This role involves working across workshop and production machinery, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a variety of traditional workshop equipment as well as supporting general site engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)

• Respond to breakdowns efficiently

• Fault find and repair machinery and equipment

• Maintain and repair:

  • Lathes

  • Milling machines

  • Presses

  • Workshop machinery

  • Gearboxes, bearings, shafts and drive systems

• Work on hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Carry out electrical fault finding (motors, drives, control panels)

• Support continuous improvement and small engineering projects

• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Experience working as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

• Experience within manufacturing or workshop environments

• Strong fault-finding and maintenance skills

• Apprenticeship trained or time-served preferred

• Able to work independently and within a small team

• Good understanding of health & safety practices
